D-Day, The Modern Way

Today is the anniversary of D-Day, a day when allied forces launched an all-out assault on beaches in enemy-occupied France. On that single day the Allies (U.S., U.K. and Canada) lost two and a half times the number of soldiers lost in all of the Iraq campaign. The Allies put ashore a number roughly equivilant to the total number of Coalition troops now serving in Iraq (156K on the Normandy Beaches, 159K in Iraq). (Quick facts taken from D-Day and the Battle of Normandy: Your Questions Answered Written by the D-Day Museum, Portsmouth and About.com: Liberal Politics -- Iraq War Results & Statistics at May 28, 2008 )

We ran across this video of a "modern news report" of the events of D-Day courtesy of a commenter on the Darwin Catholic blog (one of our favorites!). It certainly calls into question whether we could have survived the negative propaganda onslaught that is so often brought to us via "our" 24-hour news services.
